Dubai Unveils Cutting-Edge Occupational Health and Safety Standard
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has launched the "Guide of Health, Occupational Safety and the Environment in the Government of Dubai" in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The guide aims to establish a safe and healthy work environment that considers factors such as environmental sustainability, employee satisfaction, and functional well-being.
The guide was created under the Government of Dubai Human Resources Management Law and Military Human Resources Legislation in Dubai. It aims to cultivate a culture of effectively managing risks to occupational health and safety, and the environment.
The guide encourages departments to establish a safe and healthy working environment that complies with relevant conditions and standards. The DGHR is responsible for implementing the manual and providing the necessary resources to achieve the objectives of various programs and initiatives.
The Director-General of the DGHR, Abdullah Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, emphasized the significance of the guide and its reflection of the UAE's innovative approach. He stressed that it applies to all departmental employees and aims to create a unified reference for occupational health and safety, and the environment for all Dubai Government employees.
The guide aims to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards, effective management of occupational health and safety risks, and the development of key performance indicators (KPIs). These KPIs will assess the impact of implementing health, occupational safety, and environmental policies, programs, and initiatives, as well as enhance institutional capacity building and promote a culture of risk management.
Al Falasi highlighted that the launch of the guide is in line with the wise leadership's vision for the future and aims to achieve excellence in government performance, happiness, and productivity in the working environment. The manual demonstrates the commitment to quality and excellence, providing a secure and healthy work environment that promotes innovation among employees.
The guide consists of six chapters, covering various aspects such as occupational health and safety management, risk management, job well-being, office work environment, and more. It emphasizes the importance of senior management commitment and fosters a supportive culture that enhances trust and offers opportunities for professional development in the effective management of health, occupational safety, and the environment.
